Additional Notes:
He carries a pocket watch with him at all time. Overview:A chatty but smug individual, Saren is a mirror image of Sofi in many ways - they're both perfectionists, both revere the scientific method and have no time for people telling them they can't do something. While they may refer to themselves as brother and sister, this is technically not true, as neither has siblings - Saren -is- Sofi, albeit from a different universe.
While they have many, many things in common, there are a few differences between them: Saren is much more open to conversation, mingling with people and flirting. He is also, however, a lot less empathetic/sympathetic to others, less OCD about cleanliness, and has a far more sinister hidden side. History:Saren has spent most of his life in one form of confinement or another: from the moment of his birth he was kept locked away by his mad uncle Trent and forced to participate in various experiments in relation to obtaining/creation of immortality.
Eventually, The Ministry got wind of the experiments when multiple ghosts started to go missing and managed to find Trent's hidden lab, but all they found when they got there was a pile of corpses and Saren. Unsure of the extent of Saren's involvement in the bloodbath and the experiments themselves, The Ministry took Saren back to their HQ and kept him under 'house arrest', forbidding him to leave without express need and always under surveillance. However, this gave Saren access to The Ministry's almost unlimited resources and he soon began his own research into dimensions, intending to escape captivity once and for all. (It was during this time that he managed to make contact with Sofi, helping her with her research into creating Lillith, using a mirror as a conduit for communication.) Years passed, and Saren eventually stumbled upon some texts detailing the methods and practises used by the creation trio (Palkia/Dialga/Giratina) and the development of their powers. Using this, he managed to devise a ritual that would allow him to cross between dimensions should he obtain one of the three orbs and fuse it with a megaevolution gem at point of megalution. (The downside to this would be that the subject involved in the ritual would be unable to mega evolve from then on, which was a price Saren was more than willing to pay). The ritual, however, went wrong, and Saren, while able to freely move between dimensions at will, lost what physical form he had, meaning that any interaction with other worlds would be strictly limited. His partial success (and sudden appearance in the flesh, so to speak) inspired Sofi to continue with her Ascension theory and he continues to provide 'support' and advice during her journey. |
