Family: Salamence Father, Dragonite Mother, Salamence brother (Eldest), Dragonair brother (older), Hermes (Bagon, son), Aiden (Charmander, son).
Occupation: Exiled former knight & sword enthusiast. Additional Notes:
While Val has children due to his misspent youth, he has no idea that Hermes or Aiden exist. Overview:A seemingly stoic and stern man from a distance, Val is surprisingly balanced in his world view and gentle in his manners, his violent streak being tempered by many years of hard living and past mistakes. His compassion and empathy for others has been hard won, as he spent most of his early years as a vicious, vacuous thug before being (in all but name) exiled from his family.
He now spends his time travelling the kingdoms, collecting swords for his horde. The more magical/powerful the sword, the more he covets it. He has a few caches of swords hidden round the country, but he always keeps his favourites with him. His goal is to find the personal battle sword of Rayquaza, made from Sky Pillar steel, once said to be a blade forged by legendary Heatran and gifted to the first Rayquaza in the early ages of the world to quell the first Groudon and Kyogre’s fighting. History:The third son from a prestigious and long lived dragon family, nothing was really expected from Val in life, as his eldest brother would inherit his father's titles and lands and his second brother had already made a name for himself in high society as a diplomat and envoy between dragon clans. This meant that Val's upbringing was extremely lax and he was allowed to do pretty much anything (and everything) that he wanted.
However, this lack of structure meant that Val was often pushed to the side and ignored by his family. In response he became very troublesome and petulant, constantly fighting over even the smallest things in order to get some amount of attention from his parents. In response, his parents cracked down hard on his freedom and instead pushed his aggression into fighting, pitting him against other auxiliary children from dragon families as a way to further their social standing. While Val performed adequately in these competitions, instead of helping release the frustration and pent up anger, it only made it worse, turning Val into an aggressive and somewhat vile young man who spent his time gambling and whoring in-between fights. Unbeknownst to Val, his parents had arranged a marriage between him and one of their family allies' daughter. Unhappy but beholden to his family, Val and the girl got married, though marriage did little to curb Val's ways, as he went straight back to fighting and fucking. Val's life rolled on much the same, but his wife soon started asking questions around when they would be starting a family of their own, namely when they should have children (as she thought this might rein in his philandering ways and settle him down), which is something that Val had no desire to get into. So the years passed and his wife became increasingly frustrated and angry with Val and the way he treated her. The snapping point for her was when a young woman turned up at their abode, claiming that she was pregnant by Val and hoping that he would be able to provide or do anything for the upkeep of the child. |
